I’ve been talking with a number of clients lately who are struggling to understand what’s happening in their business.
The business folks tend to say “I need some help seeing what’s going on.”
The technical folks say “If we build a data warehouse the business people can see *everything.* It will be great!”
The biggest problem with business intelligence is that while it’s possible to see the information that matters, people rarely can see what matters.
This has nothing to do with which database platform you pick. It doesn’t matter which BI Toolkit you choose, either.
The hardest part of business intelligence is connecting the dots.
