I understand what it takes to find just the right speaker for your event. I’ve been involved with dozens of events from intimate training programs to large multi-day conferences.
One of the things that I have learned is that the quality of the speakers makes a huge difference to you and your audience. If the speakers “clicked” with the audience, the event was a great one. If not, well the event was not so great.
I’m sure you’re spending hours researching speakers to make sure that they are the right fit. I have put this page together to make it simple for you to get the information you need to make the best decision possible.
I’m honored that you’re considering me. Thanks for stopping by.

A Little Bit About Me
After getting a degree in computer science and then spending more than 20 years working in technology – from Fortune 500 IT technical integrations, software development and enterprise project management to running product management for a “big data” SaaS software startup, I saw that most of us geeks are brilliant with technology and struggle with the people side of work.
Over the years, I studied how to become a good communicator – even as a geek – and it made a huge difference in my professional life. In 2011 I became a founding partner in the John Maxwell Team and started my company helping geeks communicate, delegate, manage conflict and plan. Since then I have spoken to hundreds of groups, helping people improve connection, communication, collaboration and organization.
I now focus my time on speaking, executive coaching and training. I write occasionally on my blog and I host the “Becoming a Geek Leader” podcast.
I’ve been happily married to my wife for 25 years. We have seven kids (yes, you read that right.) I have six sons and two daughters from 13 to 23 years old. We live outside Charlotte NC. In my free time (what free time?) I enjoy geeky Internet of Things (IoT) projects, reading Make magazine, building things in my workshop with my kids and I am heavily invested in our local Boy Scout troop, helping young men develop critical life and leadership skills.

My Most Requested Topics
I speak on topics relevant to highly technical experts. I like to say that I help geeks communicate clearly, delegate effectively, manage conflict productively and plan well.
Why Won’t They Listen To Me?
Want more influence, but you’re not the boss? Most of the time we’re brilliant at the technical stuff, but not so great at the people stuff. In this presentation, I help your group see how they can think differently about building influence by answering the the ESSENTIAL three questions others need you to answer. Answer these three correctly, and people will follow you anywhere. More>>

From Difficult to Delighted
Dealing with difficult customers or team members? One of the biggest challenges we face today is solving the problem of that difficult customer.
